About

After many years working around the world in many different areas of IT, I’ve returned to one of my favourite subjects, data analysis, as it has always played a central role during the years that I have worked in the Insurance, Food, Automotive and Financial Services sectors.

I have recently spent much time and effort on inspecting, analysing, converting, cleansing, transforming and modelling data for various companies.

Experience tells me that businesses are now having to focus much more on utilising their own data productively, as well as external data, and to make use of the many insights that it can provide to maintain their competitive advantage.

Recognising this I have recently focussed on Business Intelligence software, most recently the excellent, highly rated, Microsoft Business Intelligence tools (Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View, Power Maps, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service) and I am now very familiar with the software and it’s powerful “M” and “DAX” languages.

I have also returned to another of my favourite subjects, maps and mapping, and have now gained a good insight into the capabilities of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS and MapViewer 8) which can also play an important role in the provision of geographic data for use in Business Intelligence reporting.

Combining these newly acquired skills with the many years of experience that I have gained in IT in many different business areas, is where I am now focussing my efforts.

For those of you who may be interested, I speak German.

Below is information which provides more background about my IT experience.
